Some trails look so ordinary at the start that you question your life choices. That was me last week at a small loop near Poulsbo.

But ten minutes in, everything changed.

The light filtered through the trees like soft gold. The air felt fresher than usual. The trail opened into this tall “cathedral forest” that made every sound quieter.

Halfway through, I found a random wooden bench — old, simple, and placed exactly where the view was best. I sat there longer than I’ll ever admit. No big thoughts. No voice in my head telling me to rush.

Just breathing.

Sometimes the best trails aren’t the famous ones — they’re the ones you stumble onto when you’re not expecting anything.
