Show your support. Be there and let our officials know you care about trails. Critical decisions are being made - you can make a difference!!!!

Mark November 14 now! Following review and approval by the Planning Commission, the plan will go to the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners for what we hope will be approval. Right now, the critical meeting will occur on November 14. More details will follow as we keep you updated. Upon adoption, the plan would become a roadmap for trail planning and development in north Kitsap County.

If you can't make a County meeting, send or email your support before 10/12 by email to be including in the comments before the planning commisions, or before 11/1 to be including in the Board consideration. Urge immediate action to adopt the Trail Plan!! Write or email:

Remember, the Trail Plan is based on your input. More than 400 people participated in 27 public meetings and a survey conducted by the NKTA drew more than 700 individual responses. Nearly 95 percent of the respondents said a trail system was important to the quality of life in north Kitsap County. Walking trails were the No. 1 priority for respondents in every age group that participated in the survey.

Consider this fact. Despite Kitsap County's efforts to promote itself as "the natural side of Puget Sound," the county only has two miles of regional trails. By contrast there are about 300 miles of regional trails in King County, more than 234 in Pierce, six in Jefferson and 40 in Clallam.

For more details, view the Press Release.

This is a CALL TO ACTION. Don't let the naysayers and do-nothings make this critical decision. Support trails and we can make this dream a reality!!
